Summary:
The Host/Hostess is the face of the restaurant, the first impression we give, and it is imperative that you set the tone for a wonderful dining experience for all our guests.
This position actively interacts with guests during all dining times and functions. The Dining Room operates 3 high volume meal periods, 7 days a week from April through November. This position is seasonal.
Responsibilities:
- Greet incoming and departing guests warmly with a genuine smile and eye contact; escort them to assigned bar, patio, or dining area; present menus; announce specials
- Answer incoming reservations or take-out orders, provide appropriate service
- Manage the flow of guests into the dining and bar areas, provide accurate wait times to incoming guests if appropriate
- Tend to special guest needs and requests
- Protect establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol control policies
- Observe tables and keep track of clean, dirty and occupied tables
- Clean, organize and stock menus at host area
- Answer phone and answer questions concerning the menu and the restaurant
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms throughout shift
Qualifications/Skills:
- Previous customer service experience is preferred.
- Upscale restaurant experience can be a plus, but these roles are open to candidates from all backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills with a friendly, outgoing disposition
- Must be able to read, write and determine wait times
- Superior organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task with ease
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to be on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to reach, bend and stoop frequently
