Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Supervisor to join our team in a dynamic food service environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service management, particularly within dinner service bar/restaurants. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation and customer service, and managing a team of staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences. Position may be ideal for those looking to get into an event planning sector, or others seeking supervisory experience. Position may have the ability to become a salaried manager role in the future
Duties
Food Service
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of food service staff, ensuring efficient operation during shifts.
- Assist with food preparation and cooking as needed, maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure proper stock of supplies for smooth operations.
- Train new employees on food service procedures, POS systems, and customer service protocols.
- Address customer inquiries or complaints promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Board of Directors and Cook Staff to develop menus, promote specials, and implement new services.
Scheduling
- Take a primary role in scheduling the weekly food service hours with part-time staff
- Assist the Board of Directors in scheduling events/banquets as needed
- Assure proper staff is scheduled for regular hours as well as reserved events
Banquet/Event Planning
- Work cooperatively with customers on pricing for events in the dining hall
- Assist as needed with scheduling food preparation and arranging furniture to meet customer needs
- Work weekends and evenings as food and banquet schedule dictates
Requirements
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within the food service industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems for order processing and inventory management.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate staff effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members efficiently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
