Front of House Staff

Job Overview
Arcadia Professional Body Piercing in Brookline is looking to add a friendly, enthusiastic front of house team member to our staff as our lovely studio continues to grow at our new location in Coolidge Corner. We're searching for someone client-orientated, energetic, and willing to learn about the industry of body piercing and body modification. Our studio offers a fantastic piercing experience, using the highest quality body jewelry available. The piercers here go through extensive extended education, including classes such as the Fakir Foundation Intensives as well the Association of Professional Piercing classes (the studio is currently in the process of acquiring APP membership). All staff at Arcadia receive CPR/First Aid as well as blood borne pathogens training after the first 90 days of employment.

Duties

• Welcome clients to the studio in a friendly manner
• Assist clients in selecting appropriate jewelry for the piercing that the client is looking to get
• Be able to check IDs and recognize incorrect documents when helping clients fill out the release forms required to receive services
• Create tickets for services for the piercers with correct information for the service
• Explain piercing aftercare
• Cashing clients out after their piercing using the POS system (Square)
• Answer the phone and respond to client questions in the best possible way (piercers are responsible for more in depth phone calls especially when staff are new)
• Reschedule appointments using the booking software (Acuity)
• Direct clients to the restroom and coffee bar
• Be able to "control the lobby" ie keeping things calm if someone passes out or gets sick after a piercing
• General cleaning and organization of any area where clients may be, including (but not limited to) behind the registers, the displays themselves, the client restroom, coffee bar, waiting area, and entry way
• Weekly inventory of supplies using templated spreadsheet

Skills

• Retail or food service experience preferred
• Knowledge of sanitation practices/hand washing/OSHA standards preferred
• General familiarity with body piercings preferred (visible piercings is helpful!)
• Ability to handle potentially stressful situations, including clients passing out or a parent getting upset regarding the required documentation for minor piercing services
• Stay focused and organized even when busy
• Ability to be motivated to complete tasks even when not asked to
• Experience using social media channels as promotional tools
• Someone empathetic, as we can have clients that are scared, worried, embarrassed, etc coming to us for help

• Full time hours (40 per week with the exception of holidays, illness, weather, etc) (Front of house works 8 hour shifts with a 30 minute paid lunch break)
• Good starting pay and tip eligibility ($18 an hour plus partial tips from the piercers, either all yours if you work alone or split with the other front of house on busier days where there are two FoH working)

**Please note that this position will not lead to an apprenticeship for piercing (or tattooing, as we don't even offer tattoos). This position is strictly front of house and does not have the opportunity to turn in to an apprenticeship. Please do not apply with the intention of getting offered an apprenticeship to be a piercer, as none of the piercers at Arcadia are in the position to take on an apprentice.**
