What are the responsibilities and job description for the Med Tech position at Arcadia Senior Living?
Med Tech's at Arcadia Senior Living are highly valued members of our health services team. Experience managing medications, emergency response and resident care for at least 20 residents is REQUIRED.
We offer 12 hour shifts. Day 6 AM - 6:30 PM or NOC 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM.
1. Resident Care: Duties include, but are not limited to providing personal care services, such as transferring, bathing, feeding, toileting, grooming, dressing and end of life care. Other duties include, observation, reporting of changes in condition, taking weights and measurements, vital signs, following infection control, resident’s rights and Arcadia policies and procedures.
2. Medication Management: Med tech's assist with medication administration by ordering and storing medications, following provider orders for giving medications, following parameters, observing for side effects and response to medication, documenting and reporting changes, daily alert charting. Insulin injections for delegated med techs.
3. Treatments: Wound care, skin treatments, first aid response and other treatments are expected to be done as ordered and scheduled or unscheduled emergency response.
4. Training: Med techs are required to have prior knowledge of medication management, side effects and maintain proper certifications required by local and state licensing agencies which include on-going in-services trainings, accreditations, specific coursework and certification and delegation. Basic state requirements may include, but are not limited to First Aid, Dementia, Mental Health, Nurse Delegation, and orientation to include skills check-offs.
3. Compliance: Med techs are responsible for following all local, state and federal regulations as they apply to services delivered for all residents. This involves care and documentation and compliance with HIPPA, OSHA and Blood Borne Pathogen Guidelines.
4. Team Work: Med Techs are responsible for fostering teamwork with co-workers, showing initiative in overcoming obstacles, taking actions which assists others beyond job responsibilities and having a positive impact on co-workers, residents and visitors. Med techs are expected to be professional and and assist with caregiving to ensure the best care is provided.
5. Other: Perform other duties as assigned and needed.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Required to have 1 year of hands-on experience as a Med Tech or Med Aide in a senior living community or skilled nursing facility, with a minimum of 20 residents.
