Arcadis is currently seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineering intern to join our national Water Infrastructure Design Services group.
Arcadis’ Water Infrastructure group partners with public and private clients to provide comprehensive design and construction administration services primarily for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and ancillary support structures. Additionally, opportunities within the Infrastructure Design Services group exist to support our client’s energy conservation goals through electrification and decarbonizations, EV infrastructure development, and distributed energy resources (DER) generation.

Role description:
The primary focus of this role is to support senior electrical staff in the design of electrical power distribution, motor control, lighting, communications, and grid tied DER systems through calculations, modeling, and developing design plans. The successful candidate will learn typical engineering tasks related to the design and then perform these tasks on their own and review the results of the assignment with senior staff.

Role description:

The successful candidate will learn typical engineering tasks related to the design and then perform these tasks on their own and review the results of the assignment with senior staff.
Role accountabilities:
- Assist in research, analysis, and reporting of solutions to client specific problems related to the water and wastewater industries and various other industry’s electrical needs.
- Assist in common calculations related to electrical design including load calculations, generator sizing, voltage drop, and fault current calculations
- Assist in modeling electrical systems, lighting systems, and solar photovoltaic systems.
- Assist in development of electrical design documents including single-line diagram, AC and DC elementary drawings, motor control schematics, and floor plans.
- Assist in developing cost estimates of designed systems, in reviewing construction submittals, and various other construction documents
- Coordinate and communicate with senior staff on assigned tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Travel to client sites to witness firsthand implementation of the designs developed.
Required Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with two to three years of study
- 0-1 year of electrical engineering and design experience; US Power electric utility is a plus
- Basic understanding of distribution power design
- Proficient in Revit AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, Visual lighting software, Elumtools
