Role description:
Arcadis is looking for an Entry Level Waterfront Structural Engineer to join our Climate Adaptation Practice in New England based in our Wakefield or Boston, MA or East Greenwich, RI Office.
Our Climate Adaptation practice focuses on delivering innovative and transformative solutions to address the challenges posed by climate change and coastal hazards while improving quality of life. We work on a diverse range of projects that include designing sustainable stormwater management systems, enhancing flood defenses, and developing adaptive strategies for coastal and inland communities and waterways. Our multidisciplinary teams are dedicated to improving the resilience of coastal and inland environments through cutting-edge engineering and strategic planning.
Role accountabilities:
As an Entry Level Waterfront Structural Engineer, you will use your expertise in climate resilience to design and/or rehabilitate structures for coastal resilience and climate adaptation projects across the United States. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the design of coastal and waterfront structures, flood protection systems, and nature-based solutions. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on water resources and resiliency projects, contribute to the preparation of technical reports, design drawings, and calculation packages to enhance coastal resiliency. Additionally, you will assist in evaluating and implementing sustainable stormwater management and flood control solutions. This role may involve travel for project site visits, planning, or overseeing construction activities, requiring fieldwork along the water’s edge. Knowledge of marine environment is preferred. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $55,900 - $89,700. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.

Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, and/or Coastal Engineering.
- Experience in engineering software relative to area of expertise.
- AutoCAD and/or GIS experience.
- Effective written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills, both in-person and virtually.
- Driver’s License and access to a car.
- Engineering in Training (EIT) Certification.
- Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese.
- Experience in designing concrete, timber and steel structures.
