Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a Water Engineer/Management Consultant Intern to join our resilience water team and work on a variety of engagements with our water asset management practice.
We are interested in candidates in the Maryland/Virginia (Arlington - VA, Hanover – MD, Bluefield – VA, Laurel – MD, Newport News – VA, Richmond – VA, Virginia Beach – VA) area. The chosen candidate can expect to work independently as part of our Consulting teams as well as on teams staffed with IT professionals, engineers, and scientists from various backgrounds, locations, specialties, and experience levels. Some tasks, such as addressing requests for assistance, require a combination of technical and non-technical skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, team-oriented and flexible individual that possesses the initiative and ability to take on new projects, learn new skills independently, troubleshoot issues, and can expect to tackle other challenges regularly.
Role accountabilities:
As part of the national water asset management team, your Water Engineer/Management Consultant Intern role will involve planning and delivering asset management solutions for clients in the water and wastewater infrastructure sector. You will work on various projects related to water and wastewater treatment, facilities evaluations, utilities assessments, and capital improvement planning. - Ensuring data integrity and credibility for analysis and reporting
- Developing automated applications to increase team productivity
- Coordinating information requirements within the team
- Providing technical support to asset management professionals
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a B.S. in Engineering, Management Information Systems, or Engineering Management
- Understanding of database functionality and information systems
- Proficiency in relational databases (SQL Server, Access, or others)
- Skills in data analytics (Power BI, Tableau, or others), data processing, and data cleaning
- Strong analytical, communication, and team management skills
- Knowledge of water and wastewater process equipment, distribution, and collection system assets
- At least 1 year of intern consulting experience with an environmental engineering or management consulting firm, or equivalent experience with a medium/large municipal utility
- Pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or MBA.
