Role description:
Arcadis is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Operator 2 in the Traffic Management Center (TMC) in Bridgeport, CT. This position is located inside the State Police Troop G building and plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic across the region.
This role sits within the larger Global Mobility Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.
Role accountabilities:
- Monitor traffic conditions and incidents using advanced traffic management systems, including CCTV cameras, along major roadways such as I-95, I-91, Route 15, Route 7, Route 8, Route 9, and I-395.
- Dispatch service patrol vehicles, DOT trucks, and personnel to assist motorists, respond to traffic incidents, clear road hazards, and support emergency operations.
- Work with the Blink Link Wrong Way Detection System to identify and respond to vehicles traveling in the wrong direction, ensuring quick notification to law enforcement and mitigation of potential hazards.
- Generate and display traffic-related messages on Variable Message Signs (VMS) boards to inform drivers about incidents, delays, road closures, and other critical updates.
- Communicate and coordinate with law enforcement, emergency responders, and transportation agencies to manage traffic issues effectively.
- Provide real-time updates on traffic conditions to the public through various communication channels.
- Maintain accurate records of traffic incidents, road closures, and other events.
- Assist in the implementation of traffic management strategies to improve safety and reduce congestion.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in transportation, public safety, or related fields is a plus.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn and use traffic monitoring, dispatching software, and VMS systems.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $39,373-59,060.00. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
