In This Role, You Will:
- Own and direct process control related scope for the 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing process control equipment onsite at a PSM facility
- Maintain the Honeywell distributed control system (DCS) and the hardware components associated with it, troubleshoot issuesto mitigate risk, monitor DCS alarms, troubleshoot and resolve problems as needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas onsite that require process control optimization, work closely with the maintenance department to plan and execute modifications as needed
- Plan, coordinate, and execute upgrades requiredduring the annual shutdown/turnaround event
- Evaluateefficiency of manufacturing technologies, instruments, equipment, and tools at the plant, proposeand implementimprovements
- Drive process control innovation in collaboration with site leadership,keep abreast of new developments and technologiesrelated to process control engineering
- Recommend suitable software solutions and automate chemical manufacturing processes to improve plant performance and maximize production
- Keep process control operations within budget without compromising quality, reliability, or efficiency of the asset
- Act as a resource on instrumentation and controls, ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, document processes, and prepare/update progress reports
- Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
- Strong knowledge and ability to design and implement control systems for 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find creative solutions and proactively mitigate issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt methods in response to new information, ever-changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
- Ability to make decisions using discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical specifications and requirements, comprehend instructions and request clarification as necessary
- Must be able to work independently and as a team member to meet company goals, handle multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems, project management software, and Teams
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or electrical engineering or related discipline
- Ten or more years of experience working on distributed controls system (DCS) within controls engineering in a process controlsrelated role
- Experience working in/around processing hazardous chemicals in a process management safety (PSM) regulated facility preferred
- Three or more years of DCS programming experience required, proficiency in Honeywell Experion highlypreferred
