What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physician position at ARCARE?
The Staff Physician works as part of the medical provider team providing medical services to the patients of ARcare. Qualifications: Must be a graduate from an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy; Must hold current license in practicing state; experience preferred; must live in the service area; CPR certification required upon employment or within first 3 months of employment. Duties include:
- Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
- Order, perform and interpret tests, and analyze records, reports and examination information to diagnose patients' condition.
- Monitor the patients' conditions and progress and re-evaluate treatments as necessary.
- Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results.
- Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
- Advise patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
- Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff.
- Coordinate work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists and other health care providers.
