What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronics Technician II-Nellis position at Arcata Associates, Inc.?
Essential Functions
Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment operations.
Possess comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence and in selecting tools and testing instruments.
Receives technical guidance as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician and work is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
Position requires shift work including weekends and holidays, rotating schedule, up to, if not providing, 24 hour mission support.
Other Related Duties
Performs other related duties as required.
Use system resources and appropriate test equipment for system fault isolation and restoration.
Assist in maintaining operational logs.
Assist in the design and implementation of additions to or modifications of the Range Airspace Management System.
Ensure that proper system backup and security procedures are performed as required.
Create new and maintain current system user accounts on a UNIX platform, insuring the users have adequate resources to complete their tasks.
Interface with software support engineers on system accessibility and implementation of any software modifications.
Interface with outside agencies concerning all system issues.
Ensure maintenance and operation data are maintained and ready for dissemination.
Be able to work independently, but always as part of a TEAM Ability to perform physical tasks including, but not limited to, moderate standing, bending, lifting, and climbing.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required For This Position
Prefer completion of accredited electronics training or military equivalent and a minimum of 4 years related experience. Possess comprehensive technical knowledge regarding a variety of electronic equipment.
Possess a level of knowledge pertaining to the UNIX (Solaris) operating system running within a SUN client/server environment.
Have a basic understanding of a typical LAN environment.
5 years electronics maintenance experience with experience in computer hardware maintenance desired.
Networking experience, to include setup and configuration of hubs, switches, and cable construction and connection of these devices.
Must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary government security clearance.
Work Environment, Physical And Mental Demands
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, prolonged sitting while using the computer and the telephone and attending meetings, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness. Able to use a personal computer to input, retrieve and disseminate information. Be able travel to remote locations as requested by the company.
