ArcelorMittal Global R&D East Chicago center is in urgent need of a Digital Development engineer with a solid Data Science background and good experience developing web-based applications to support ongoing projects across various groups in both Process and Product areas and R&D Digitalization Initiatives in East Chicago Lab.

Job Description :

The appropriate candidate should possess strong background in Data Science, Machine and Deep Learning and will be involved in applying these techniques to a variety of R&D projects focused on Process Improvement and will use advanced data analysis tools effectively for executing projects and share this knowledge with others. Specifically, the candidate should be proficient in Oracle, SQL and Microsoft Azure Database Administration, AI and ML Tools Development and Solutions Architecture Development. Additional skillsets should include the ability to do web development using Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and Ionic HTML5 mobile app development framework . Daily tasks will include the development and maintenance of both advanced commercial and proprietary databases, machine learning models, business intelligence dashboards, web applications, hybrid mobile apps, control systems and other digital technology solutions that are aligned with ArcelorMittal’s digital transformation initiatives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

Manage R&D projects, developing or assisting in the development of advanced predictive models for process and product solutions through advanced data analysis or machine learning.

Develop, test, and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning models, business intelligence dashboards, web applications and other digital technology solutions

Work closely with cross-functional teams to support R&D Global Digitization activities

Install, configure, automate, and monitor various HPC cloud services and technical solutions on Azure and other technology platforms

Develop Oracle and SQL databases and expand existing databases

Support overall laboratory automation and knowledgebase systems

Assist in the acquisition, compilation, validation and analysis of trial data (sometimes complex) from multiple sources

Keep abreast of up-to-date knowledge on the tools and methods for data analysis, machine learning and digitalization and educate other Researchers in the available tools.

Communicate project results in reports, presentations, and publications.

Experience Requirements :

Minimum / Basic Requirements :

Proven experience using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques in data analysis and experience developing and implementing AI algorithms

Good knowledge of virtualization, cloud computing and data analytics.

Strong team player, with well-developed communication skills in English (verbal and written).

Advanced skills in data analysis, Statistics (design of experiments, data analysis and model formulation),

Strong Computer Programming (Python, C , Java, etc.) experience

Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.

Understanding of both traditional data warehousing solutions as well as modern big data architectures, tools and techniques.

Proficient in planning and managing projects

Ability to work efficiently and productively with minimal supervision.

Preferred Requirements :

Experience with Relational Database Administration using Oracle, MySQL and MSSQL

Experience in data integration solutions, data warehousing

Real-world application of cloud-based tools such as Azure Data Factory

Experience programming Python, PHP with some experience using PHP frameworks such as CodeIgniter,

Experience creating web-based user interfaces using HTML, JavaScript and CSS,

Good knowledge of virtualization, cloud computing and data analytics.

Prior experience with MATLAB

Education Requirement :

Minimum / Basic Requirements :

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field

Other Requirements :

At least 4 years of experience in a data engineering.

Strong Teamwork and a hands-on working approach

Proven ability to collaborate with IT and project teams working at remote ArcelorMittal locations.

Ability to travel as needed for projects.
