Inventory Manager (Automotive Industry) – Job Description

Position: Inventory Manager

Job Overview:

We seek an experienced Inventory Manager with a strong background in the automotive industry to oversee inventory operations, optimize stock levels, and ensure efficient supply chain management. The ideal candidate must have at least five years of experience in inventory management within the automotive sector and a deep understanding of automotive parts, supply chain logistics, and warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities: Inventory Planning & Management:

  • Develop and implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels and reduce excess inventory.
  • Monitor and forecast inventory needs based on sales trends, demand fluctuations, and market conditions.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock audits to prevent discrepancies.
  • Manage procurement planning for automotive parts, ensuring timely availability of critical components.

Supply Chain & Vendor Coordination:

  • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics partners to ensure smooth inventory flow.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors to secure favorable pricing and supply terms.
  • Establish strong relationships with automotive OEMs, aftermarket suppliers, and distributors.
  • Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring efficient transportation and storage of goods.

Warehouse Operations & Process Optimization:

  • Supervise warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Implement best practices for inventory handling, storage, and distribution.
  • Utilize inventory management software (ERP, WMS) to streamline tracking and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, improve forecasting accuracy, and minimize stockouts.
  • Generate regular reports on inventory performance, turnover rates, and shrinkage.
  • Work closely with sales and finance teams to align inventory strategies with business objectives.

Team Leadership & Compliance:

  • Led and mentored a team of inventory specialists and warehouse staff.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Conduct training sessions on inventory management best practices and system usage.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of inventory management experience in the automotive industry.
  • Strong automotive parts, vehicle components, and supply chain logistics knowledge.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems (ERP, WMS, SAP, or similar software).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing inventory for automotive dealerships, parts suppliers, or OEMs.
  • Knowledge of just-in-time (JIT) inventory practices and lean supply chain methodologies.
  • Certification in supply chain management (APICS, CPIM, or similar) is a plus.
