Overview: As a Nurse Practitioner at our inpatient drug rehabilitation facility, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals undergoing treatment for substance use disorders. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote recovery and support overall patient health.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Assessment:
o Conduct comprehensive medical assessments of patients upon admission and throughout treatment.
o Review medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests as necessary.
2. Treatment Planning:
o Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
o Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed based on assessment findings.
3. Medication Management:
o Prescribe, manage, and monitor medications for patients as part of their treatment for substance use disorders.
o Educate patients and their families about medication regimens, side effects, and the importance of adherence.
4. Patient Education and Counseling:
o Provide education on substance use disorders, coping strategies, and relapse prevention techniques to patients and their families in coordination with substance abuse counselors.
o Offer counseling and support to help patients achieve their recovery goals.
5. Coordination of Care:
o Coordinate care with other healthcare providers, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and addiction specialists.
o Facilitate referrals to additional services, such as outpatient therapy or community resources.
6. Documentation:
o Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and medication management in electronic medical records (EMR).
7. Compliance and Safety:
o Ensure compliance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and standards of care in the treatment of substance use disorders.
o Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and facility operations.
8. Education and Training:
o Under the supervision of the Medical Director, assist in the education and training of nursing staff and other healthcare professionals regarding substance use disorders and evidence-based practices.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
- Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure in WV.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (e.g., ANCC, AANP) is required.
- Previous experience in addiction medicine, psychiatry, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders, treatment modalities, and evidence-based practices.
- Strong assessment, clinical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
