- Plans machining by analyzing work orders, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters
- Consults with engineers and other personnel regarding product information such as design, capacity and propose, and types of material to be used to fabricate product to determine feasibility of product proposal
- Responsible for creating new as well as reviewing old programs for validity and efficiency to maintain the most efficient, shortest possible cycle times
- Sets tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches
- Calculates requirements including basic math, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers
- Ensures the production plan is executed and met
- Track all work in process within the department, ensure all materials are identified and traceable
- Assist employees regarding machine setup, operation, malfunctions, etc
- Identify and communicate production issues in a timely manner
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- When not programming, perform work like CNC Machinists
- Assist with any other duties as required

- CNC experience with CNC Swiss Lathes
- Ability to program parts at the machine or offline utilizing CAD/CAM Software. Selects cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts and cutting tools to be used on basis of experience and knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics, or by referring to tables, charts, or instructions on set up sheet. Mounts cutting tools in tool holders and mounts them on machine, using wrenches, verifying their position with gauges and other measuring instruments.
- Ability to work closely with machinists and Tooling Specialists to troubleshoot tooling and programming issues
- Must be confident in diagnosing tooling and programming problems and developing creative solutions
- Maintain a cooperative attitude and willingness to learn
- Equivalent to high school education or related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
