What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping & Receiving Clerk position at ARCH?
What you’ll do
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Determines method of shipment.
- Packs product for shipping and prepares shipping labels
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
What you need to thrive in this role
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior shipping and receiving experience within an industrial/manufacturing setting.
- Computer Skills – knowledge of MS Office and online shipping software systems.
- Problem-Solving
- Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction.
- Safety and Security – Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task, ability to anticipate, think ahead and plan.
- Ability to work in a team, strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills.
