Summer Internship

Summary:

Assist with various projects within the entire manufacturing process.  We are looking for a driven intern, interested in learning about the manufacturing industry, to train and participate in many different areas of manufacturing and production. The interns hired for this position should expect to learn multiple facets of manufacturing and will leave this position with valuable skills and industry knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support manufacturing projects as assigned.
• Detects and reports discrepancies or questionable conditions to Production Manager.
• Aids in the development and continuous improvement of procedures.
• Develops engineering action plans to guide timely and cost effective development of projects and processes. 
• Responsible for successful completion of simple or basic project development task to include any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintain process documentation, testing and validating process, equipment, and tooling.
• Assists and coordinates with Manufacturing for development of processes, tooling and molds necessary to produce new products.
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Responsible for assuring that assigned activities are performed in accordance with Sonora’s quality procedures.
• Significant interaction with the hourly work force, quality, safety, sourcing and other functions on projects.
• Adhere to all workplace safety laws, regulations, standards, and practices.

Education and Experience:

• Pursuing a 4-year degree in mechanical engineering or manufacturing technology
• Overall 3.0 GPA or above.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Analytical skills and the ability to express concepts effectively, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of machine shop capabilities.
• Strong math skills.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office and the internet.

Physical Demands:

• Light to moderate physical exertion required.
• Lifting/carrying Maximum lbs: 25
• Frequent lbs: 1
• Regularly required to stand, reach and move about the facility.
