Job Title: Associate Athletic Trainer

Reports To: Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director, Head Athletic Trainer
Job Summary
The Associate Athletic Trainer/ EMT verifies student and staff daily COVID-19 Screenings, addresses in-school medical emergencies and medication administration, provides sporting event coverage, and helps athletes prevent and recover from sports injuries in duties that include but are not limited to:
Prevention and Recovery
Provides student-athletes with initial injury and illness evaluations, referrals, follow-up evaluations, wound care, emergency cardiac care with AED and other emergency care, injury rehabilitation, taping and bracing, and over-the-counter medicines.
Provides treatments that include electrical stimulation, microcurrent stimulation, ultrasound, therapeutic massage, cryotherapy (e.g., cold whirlpool, ice pack, ice massage), and thermotherapy (e.g., warm whirlpool, hydrocollator).
Performs injury rehabilitation and reconditioning, including therapeutic exercises such as strengthening, core stability training, re-education of joint kinesthesia and proprioception, muscular re-education, and isotonic and isokinetic strengthening.
Tapes and braces for musculoskeletal injuries.
Works in conjunction with physical therapist industry professionals on a daily basis and has consistent direct contact with student-athletes family physicians regarding physicals, medical history, and injury assessments.
Athletic Training Coverage
Provides practice and competition coverage (off-site when necessary), emergency and non-emergency medical care, injury evaluation, documentation, and rehabilitation.
Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away contests where needed.
Provide coverage for all away varsity football games when available and does not conflict with home coverage.
Administration
Maintain accurate records of injuries, and treatments and provide insurance claim forms for sports injuries treated by a physician (when applicable)
Assist with EMR (Magnus) facilitation/ upkeep and COVID-19 daily screening verification.
Assists with inventory and purchasing as directed by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Assist with collection and verification of student/ student athlete medical paperwork (Magnus).
Provide the coaches and athletic director with a list of athletes medically eligible to compete under district and state rules and regulations.
Assist with the student athletic training program.
Assist with scheduling and facilitation of pre-participation sports physicals.
Assist the athletic director with assigned administrative duties.
Review Emergency Action Plans annually with staff members.
Teach science-related classes as discussed with/assigned by the school administration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree from an accredited ATEP
Current NATABOC certification
Ability to meet criteria for certification as established by the NATA with respect to CEUs
Current EMT- Basic, EMT - Intermediate, or EMT - Paramedic certification preferred
Ability to work confidently in a crisis or emergency situation and demonstrate knowledge of safety practices
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of WCAC regulations
Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Communicate effectively, both verbal and written
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Proficiency in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications
Availability for weekend and evening work and for home and away competitions and practices
