The Teacher fulfills the mission of Archbishop Hannan High School by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of the students at Archbishop Hannan for whom the teacher is responsible within the framework of the school's philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The Teacher provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student learning, competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth toward a successful future. The Teacher has decision making responsibilities within essential job functions, in keeping with school policies.
The Archbishop Hannan High School Faculty member :
- Assists in the implementation of the Archbishop Hannan High School Mission Statement.
- Teaches six (6) sections of classes as assigned in accordance with the Mission of Archbishop Hannan High School, and conforms to all school and departmental policies, goals, and grading policies, as well as other school regulations.
- Fulfills all spiritual, instructional, organizational, and professional duties and responsibilities of a Classroom Teacher as described in the Employee Manual .
- Abides by and enforces, without exception, the policies contained in the Student-Parent Handbook and cooperates fully with the Dean of Students in these matters.
- Accepts the teaching and supervision assignments as given by the Head of School and / or Associate Head(s) of School, and Dean of Students. This assignment will include six (6) teaching periods, one (1) professional learning / sub period, one (1) class preparation period, and one (1) duty assignment.
- Remains available and on-campus from 7 : 30 am to 3 : 45 pm each school day, which includes a duty-free 20-minute lunch period.
- Attends all school Liturgies, unless excused in advance by Senior Administration
- Supports the endeavors of the school's Campus Ministry program.
- Supports all the endeavors of the various sports and student activities sponsored by Archbishop Hannan High School, including supervision of at least one school dance every year.
- Supports and actively participates in all in-school recruitment activities.
- Communicates with parents in a timely manner whenever a student is failing or in danger of failing the quarter or whenever a student's behavior or performance falls below expectations. Responds to parent communication prior to the end of the next school day from the date of communication.
- Handles routine discipline problems within the classroom and makes referrals to the Dean of Students for serious infractions in accordance with school policies.
- Fulfills twenty (20) hours of professional learning annually
- Attends all mandatory functions.
- Adheres to all institutional policies and procedures as specified in the Employee Manual , departmental guidelines, the Student-Parent Handbook , and other directives as issued by the Head of School and / or Associate Head(s) of School.
- Attends and is punctual at all class meetings, parent conferences, faculty meetings, in-service meetings, supervisory assignments, liturgical services, and student assemblies as required.
- Any other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School / Associate Head(s) of School.
