Chaplain - Archbold Hospice
Position Description
- Provides spiritual care services per Plan of Care, taking into consideration age (i.e., pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric), psychosocial, cultural and religious/spiritual preferences; educational, environmental and learning preferences or limitations.
- Serves as liaison between patient/family and community minister.
- Provides education to churches, health care and community organizations
- Other accountabilities and duties.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in religious studies or related social sciences. Masters or seminary degree preferred. Documentation of ordination or commission by a recognized faith group who has completed at least one unit of clinical pastoral education from a nationally recognized provider such as the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education.
Experience: At least one year's experience in pastoral counseling or service within religious setting. Experience in pastoral counseling in medical or crisis management setting preferred.
Required Skills: Must be licensed or ordained as a minister. Must have a current GA driver's license and valid automobile insurance coverage. Must be able to meet and communicate professionally with the general public and community ministers and be able to work with multidisciplinary team. Must demonstrate ability to respond to the spiritual needs of individuals from a wide variety of denominational and cultural backgrounds and possess and exhibit interpersonal skills necessary for appropriate response to the terminally ill and their families. Must be flexible and adaptable; be self-motivated and possess good organizational skills. Must have basic knowledge of medical terms, disease process, grief process and their relationship to psycho-spiritual needs.
Physical Demands: Works in patient's home in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids as well as infectious diseases. Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet patient's and family needs. Ability to travel extensively and some exposure to unpleasant weather. Prolonged sitting or standing and some lifting up to 50lbs may also be required. Must be able to work well in stressful situations.
