Point of Care Coordinator - Laboratory
Responsbilities
The employee demonstrates leadership skills and functions as a role model within the department/facility for POC testing.
Demonstrates the initiative and flexibility to handle non-technical and clerical duties as the need arises.
Must possess the appropriate level of skill and knowledge for laboratory areas including, but not limited to Hematology, Clinical Microscopy, Immunology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Immunohematology, specimen collection, specimen processing, results reporting, quality assurance, and laboratory safety
Must have the ability to combine the characteristics of a supervisor and bench technologist/nurse liaison while maintaining workload and workflow throughout all areas of laboratory as related to POCT
Ability to effectively communicate through verbal and written means
Ability to work independently and to interact professionally with patients, staff, physicians, co-workers, and other hospital department employees
Must have a high degree of integrity, initiative, and self-organization, and make medical and technical judgments as required, with and/or without supervisory assistance
Must have knowledge of requirements for regulatory agencies and compliance for Point of Care testing.
Good physical and mental health, ability with no limitations to lift, pull, bend, push, and walk moderate distances. Sit for long periods of time using proper body mechanics, visual acuity (with corrective lenses, if required) to read printed material and visualize objects, visual acuity to the degree to detect changes in color, hearing ability (with auditory aids, if required) to understand speech in a normal speaking voice without visualizing the speaker, speaking ability to ask and answer pertinent questions and relay information, ability to work under stressful conditions and situations, ability to work under close supervision or independently as required, possibility of exposure to potentially hazardous materials, possibility of having to lift objects up to 30 lbs. in weight.

Qualifications
Appropriate degree and certification as MLT, MT, LPN or RN
1-2 years of experience in the clinical field of Medical Technology or Nursing
Qualifications as deemed necessary to be in accordance with certification or licensure by the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
