Systems Operations Manager

The Archdiocese of Baltimore seeks a talented Systems Operations Manager to oversee IT operations, with a strong focus on cybersecurity and Microsoft cloud technologies. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, this role is a critical in-house position that ensures the security, efficiency, and continuous improvement of IT services for 250 internal users. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, strategic vision, and leadership skills to drive innovation and operational excellence.

Essential Functions:

• Manage and maintain a Microsoft hybrid environment, including on-premise Active Directory and cloud-based Microsoft Azure.
• Implement and maintain Microsoft identity management solutions to support a secure and efficient IT environment.
• Oversee VMware infrastructure located in a nearby colocation facility, supporting critical server environments.
• Develop and utilize PowerShell scripts to automate administrative tasks, enhance system monitoring, and improve deployment processes.
• Implement and manage Intune for device management and security, enhancing system efficiency and reliability.
• Conduct internal vulnerability assessments, implement remediation strategies, and maintain an up-to-date incident response plan.
• Draft and maintain comprehensive technology policies, standards, and procedures to ensure consistency and alignment with industry best practices.
• Lead a team of four IT professionals responsible for network operations and helpdesk support, providing mentorship, performance management, and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Proactively identify opportunities for cost savings and recommend improvements to IT infrastructure and services.
• Stay informed about emerging technologies and changes to implemented solutions, ensuring the organization remains ahead of technological advancements.
• Prepare and deliver executive summaries and solution proposals to the IT Director and senior leadership, demonstrating clear and impactful communication skills.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align IT initiatives with organizational objectives and drive continuous innovation.
• Deliver secure, scalable, and cost-effective IT solutions that meet organizational needs.
• Ensure high availability and performance of IT systems supporting 250 internal users.
• Foster a high-performing IT team culture, emphasizing collaboration and professional development.

Position Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10 years of IT experience, with expertise in Microsoft technologies, hybrid environments, and identity management.
• Strong PowerShell scripting experience for task automation and system optimization.
• CISSP certification or active pursuit of certification.
• Proven success in conducting vulnerability assessments and managing incident response plans.
• Demonstrated experience implementing Intune and optimizing Microsoft cloud services.
• Strong leadership abilities with experience managing IT teams and projects.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of addressing technical and non-technical audiences.

Range: $120,000-135,000 Annualized

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
