Position Summary
The Coordinator of Faith Formation and Service collaborates with the Pastor, the Director of Faith Formation, the Faith Formation Commission, and the Parish Staff to design and implement the Pre-K through Middle School Faith Formation program and coordinate and implement the parish’s service opportunities. Providing opportunities to serve others and integrated, lifelong faith formation that nurtures a lively, active and involved community of faith among all in our parish are central to our parish’s evangelizing mission. The Coordinator of Faith Formation and Service reports to the Director of Faith Formation (DFF). This is an on-site position at the parish in Sharon.

Implement all aspects of the Pre-K through Grade 5 Faith Formation program, including:
Design and implement programming for Middle School students.
Coordinate and implement the parish’s service program.
Work collaboratively with the full OLOS staff.

Responsibilities
Implement all aspects of the Pre-K through Grade 5 Faith Formation program, including:
- Facilitate the Sunday morning program by opening Cottage Street School for classes; greeting catechists and families; designing and administering pre-class service projects; monitoring the CSS cafeteria during classes; and cleaning up after classes.
- With DFF, recruit, train and support ongoing formation of catechists and others who serve as lay teachers within the faith formation program. Supervise faith formation classes as needed and coordinate substitute catechists when needed.
- Promote the practice of parents as the primary faith educators of their children.
- Support the Director of Faith Formation in implementing the First Reconciliation and First Eucharist preparation programs, including (but not limited to) parent meetings, mini-retreats, rehearsals and the services.
- Communicate information regarding the program to catechists, families and the parish-at-large as needed via the bulletin, parish newsletter, website, program newsletter and email.
Design and implement programming for Middle School students.
- Develop lessons for and lead monthly class meetings, based on curriculum developed by the DFF and Pastor.
- Work collaboratively with DFF, Music Director and Pastor to develop and implement service opportunities and spiritual/enrichment experiences for Middle School, Confirmation and parish-wide participation.
- Organize social opportunities for middle school youth ministry program, including monthly Middle School Youth Nights.
- Recruit, train, and support adult facilitators and chaperones for all middle school programming.
- Serve as the adult leader on the Middle School Summer Mission Trip.
Coordinate and implement the parish’s service program.
- Coordinate the parish’s service projects, including by recruiting
- Act as staff liaison with parish service groups, including the Christian Services Opportunities Commission and the OLOS Prison Ministry.
Work collaboratively with the full OLOS staff.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with Sharon Public Schools, especially the Cottage Street School, in the use of their property for programming
- In coordination with the DFF, create and manage the PreK-Grade 5 and Middle School Faith Formation calendar
- Maintain accurate information about PreK-Grade 5 and Middle School Faith Formation on the website
- Attend Staff Meetings
Qualifications
- Practicing Catholic;
- Demonstrated leadership in a parish or diocesan program of religious education, school or institution or the equivalent;
- Computer skills, including but not limited to, word processing, internet, social media, etc.;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability in oral and written communication;
- Familiarity with Scripture and basic Church documents regarding catechesis;
- Familiarity with and/or interest in interfaith work.
