JOB PURPOSE: This is a working foreman position responsible for the appearance, cleanliness and maintenance of the buildings and grounds within the Parish’s three churches in Quincy. Working closely with the Pastor and Finance & Operations Manager on parish renovations and functions. The Facilities & Maintenance Foreman manages custodial and seasonal staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily
- Responsible for ensuring that work is done safely, on time and to quality standards
- Coordinate and supervise full time and part time custodial staff including part time seasonal staff
- Manage and coordinate custodial staff schedules and projects.

Prepare the churches, and other rooms for services and church events including:
- Cleaning and maintaining buildings facilities,
- Performing the necessary room set-ups for scheduled meetings.
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors using cleaning solutions, tools, and equipment.
- Cleaning or polishing walls, ceilings, windows, floors and building fixtures.
- Cleaning walkways, parking lots, and steps.
- Dusting furniture, walls, other equipment, remove cobwebs
- Gathering and emptying trash.
- Cleaning bathrooms thoroughly.
- Notify the Finance & Operations Manager when materials/supplies need to be ordered or when there is a need for repairs to building operating systems.
- Assisting with building security, including locking and unlocking.
- Perform minor repairs, including but not limited to masonry, electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and painting. Coordinate with Finance & Operations Manager for planning and budgeting.
Weekly/Monthly
- Regular “walk around” inspections of all buildings and grounds to proactively identify maintenance or safety issues. Bring concerns to the Finance & Operations Manager for planning.
- Interact with local municipal officials to ensure permits and licenses are in order, and to maintain up-to-date contact information with fire, police, alarm/security, and other vendors.
Cemetery
- Handle Cemetery burials, ensuring parish has copies of required burial permits
- Maintain and organize Cemetery records
- Research old Cemetery records and locate graves for families as needed
- Maintain Cemetery grounds - mow, rake leaves, snow removal
- Hoisting license to operate a backhoe preferred or willingness to obtain license
Seasonal
- As needed, perform snow removal and ensure parishes within the collaborative are ready to open as needed.
- Seasonally, mow grounds, rake leaves, and cleanup of grounds including Cemetery
Occasionally/ As Needed
- Work with Pastor, Finance & Operations Manager and Archdiocese Facilities Management staff on construction and/or renovation projects to ensure adherence to Archdiocese policies and procedures.
- This position will occasionally require weekend/holiday work.
- Emergency on-call situations as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Property or Project Management preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years experience as a facilities manager.
- Previous experience as a supervisor.
- Knowledge of basic HVAC and mechanical functions of a large non-residential building.
- Basic carpentry skills and painting.
- Prior experience in building maintenance, preferably in a church or similar setting.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning methods and products
PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS:
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb and reach.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
