Part-Time After Care Paraprofessional
Job: Part-Time After-School Care Teacher
Grade/Ages: Preschool - 8th Grade
Pay Type and Range: $17.00-21.50 hourly
Day/Time: 2:45 pm - 6:00 pm; Monday-Friday
Description: Blessed Sacrament Catholic School seeks a caring, cooperative, and motivated teacher for after-school care. The after-school care teacher is hired by and directly accountable to the principal. The after-school care teacher is expected to abide by the policies and procedures of the local school, the Archdiocese of Denver, and the Office of Catholic Schools. The after-school care teacher cooperates with the principal and staff to provide an environment promoting the Catholic education ministry.
Blessed Sacrament provides after-school care Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. The school operates two after-school programs: Fledglings Nest for preschool students and Falcons Nest for K-8th grade students. After-school care teachers support students in completing homework, coordinate activities, and monitor students as they play indoors and on the playground.
Qualifications
Education and Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent
-
Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English

Ability to acquire CPR/First Aid training (within 30 days of hire)

Must be able to pass a criminal background check

Compliance with Safe Environment requirements (after being hired)
Preferred Qualifications:
-
A four-year degree in education, recreation, human services, or a related field. Non-related degrees are accepted, as is one year of full-time work experience with school-age children in a group setting (this is required for the supervisor level).

Ability and the skill to exercise appropriate supervision and direction to children

Experience working with groups of 4 or more children

Demonstrate successful experience in program design and implementation for children

Proven ability to work effectively in a team

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Professional attitude regarding the childcare profession

Experience with special needs children
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
The duties of the Catholic School Teacher will include but are not limited to:

Teach and act doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church
-
Know, teach, and act consistently on Blessed Sacrament Catholic School's mission, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures.

Provide careful and effective supervision of children's activities
-
Assist in the implementation of Colorado childcare licensing regulations

Lead groups of children in a variety of activities
-
Carry out objectives developed for the Archdiocese of Denver

Assist children in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior set by the program
-
Use proactive strategies to guide appropriate behavior with positive reinforcement
-
Cooperate with other staff to create and maintain a harmonious social environment

Interact positively with parents and refer questions and concerns as appropriate to the after-school care director

Maintain a clean and safe physical environment

Report unsafe equipment or program supply concerns to appropriate supervisors
