Candidates should possess the following:
- Proper Michigan teaching certification and/or equivalent
- Willingness to obtain catechist certification through the Archdiocese of Detroit
- Specialized training in teaching reading and phonics are preferred
- Promote the mission and vision of St. Augustine Catholic School
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic ChurchDevelop and implement rigorous standards-based instruction
- Consistently create a high level of active student engagement and student learning
- Apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners
- Develop and use effective methods of evaluation that are directly related to curriculum objectives and to concepts and skills taught; consistently and effectively evaluate student progress
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process including Chromebooks, smart boards, and Google Suite for Education
- Establish a consistent disciplinary approach which promotes self-direction, confidence, and growth in virtue; set high standards for student behavior and manages inappropriate behavior patiently and effectively
- Communicate regularly with families and implement clear communication systems
- Cooperate with school administration; work effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents
- Actively participate in collaboration with colleagues including professional responsibilities and duties as needed
