General Description
The Admissions Officer is responsible for specific tasks as well as general support of the department. The Officer will work with all internal and external stakeholders - this includes: students (prospective and current), families, community members, staff, and faculty. Primary focus of position will be in the area of recruitment. The Officer will be expected to plan and participate in recruiting events at the school and in the community, establish relationships with feeder schools within the area, generate and maintain accurate student enrollment records, suggest and support strategic enrollment initiatives, complete administrative tasks associated with enrollment, track performance metrics, and all other tasks and responsibilities as required.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Meet enrollment goals for assigned target recruitment area
- Travel on behalf of DCR for recruitment and other admission related events
- Speak publicly to individuals
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with key feeder schools and community orgs
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the admission office’s recruitment and marketing plan with the purpose of promoting DCR’s visibility and general recruitment efforts
- Assist in the development, maintenance and execution of Admission’s communication plan to prospective and admitted students.
- Evaluate applicant files
- Schedule and conduct individual in-person and telephone interviews with prospective students and their parents throughout the admissions process
- Coordinate, Facilitate and Follow Up with Shadow Days (Visits, Interviews & Testing)
- Assist and facilitate new student registration
- Assist with the development and execution of inter-department processes that link to the admissions process
Sensitivity to the ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of the student body
Excellent organizational skills - with emphasis on attention to detail
Excellent communication skills - verbal (in person and over the phone) and written
Excellent inter-personal skills – high energy, positive, influential and collaborative
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, (Proficiency in Word and Excel is a must)
Ability to maintain confidential information
Bi-lingual fluency in English and Spanish a plus (verbal and written)
