Job Title: Athletic Director
Location: Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, Beverly Hills, Michigan
Position Overview:
Our Lady Queen of Martyrs (OLQM) is seeking a dynamic, faith-driven, and highly organized Athletic Director to oversee and manage all aspects of our athletic programs. The Athletic Director will play a pivotal role in fostering an environment of teamwork, sportsmanship, and spiritual growth, fully aligned with the mission and values of Catholic education.
This leadership role involves not only developing and managing sports programs but also guiding young athletes and coaches to grow in both skill and faith.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership & Compliance
- Oversee all OLQM athletic programs for boys and girls, including scheduling, budgeting, and staffing.
- Attend CYO Athletic Director meetingseach season and ensure OLQM remains in compliance with all CYO rules and deadlines.
- Submit all teams and participants to CYO within the specified deadlines.
- Align CYO schedules with available facilities and coordinate game times that work for OLQM and competing parishes.
- Ensure every participant is a registered school student or an OLQM parish member enrolled in Faith Formation(eligibility requirement).
Coaching & Staff Development
- Recruit, hire, and manage volunteer coaches for each athletic team.
- Ensure all coaches complete background checks and Protecting God's Children training before volunteering.
- Provide ongoing support, expectations, and training to coaches to maintain high standards of faith and sportsmanship.
Student-Athlete and Parent Engagement
- Host seasonal Parent Meetings (Spring, Winter, Fall) to explain OLQM’s philosophy of sports and expectations for players and families.
- Promote academic, spiritual, and personal growth of student-athletes, emphasizing integrity, discipline, and respect.
- Serve as a role model for Christ-like behavior, especially in high-pressure situations such as disputes over officiating.
Faith Integration
- Integrate Catholic values and prayer into all athletic events and team activities.
- Lead prayer before home games and other athletic gatherings.
- Foster faith-building opportunities like team retreats and service projects.
Event and Facility Management
- Organize and oversee home games, tournaments, and events, including coordinating volunteers and staff.
- Communicate with maintenance to ensure proper facility set-up for home games and events.
- Attend all home games, lead pre-game prayer, and facilitate announcements and team introductions.
Volunteer and Parent Coordination
- Set up SignUpGenius for parents to volunteer for concessions, admissions, scorekeeping, scoreboard operation, and other game-day needs.
- Purchase and manage all concession stand items, set pricing, and ensure accurate money collection.
Uniform and Equipment Management
- Assign uniforms, maintain accurate rosters, and submit to CYO.
- Collect uniforms at the end of each season and maintain inventory.
- Manage athletic equipment, facilities, and resource needs.
Financial and Administrative Duties
- Develop and manage the athletic department budget.
- Create and manage sports sign-ups and collect participation fees using WeShare.
- Manage financial aspects of concessions and fundraising to support athletic programs.
Communication & Community Engagement
- Serve as primary liaison between OLQM school administration, parents, students, coaches, and CYO.
- Foster strong relationships with local parishes, alumni, and community organizations.
- Promote athletic programs through school newsletters, parish bulletins, and events.
- Coordinate and confirm game schedules with other Athletic Directors and opposing teams.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate diverse teams of coaches and student-athletes.
- Detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Financial management, budgeting, and fundraising abilities.
- Familiarity with CYO rules, school athletics operations, and safety standards.
- Proficient in MS Excel, WeShare, SignUpGenius, and related technology tools.

- Must be present at all home games and key events.

- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during sports seasons.
