ELEMENTARY TEACHER

With current enrollment expanding, (Pre-Kindergarten – 8th grades) we are committed to educating the whole child through our educational model that allows us to celebrate the gifts of every child.
We believe that St. Pius Catholic School (SPS) is a wonderful choice for educating children. Our Christ-centered environment encourages the spiritual development of our students, offers them the opportunity to excel in academics, fosters an atmosphere for the development of good character, and instills a sense of community responsibility.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education
K-8 Certification
Job Responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
Create lesson plans to teach students subjects and complete Report Cards
Teach students how to interact with others, share work together, problem solve
Observe students to evaluate their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
Report to the Principal
Current teaching license and or degree in elementary education
Must meet requirements established by the Archdiocese of Detroit
Must have completed or willing to complete Protecting God’s Children Training
Ability to work in collaborative atmosphere with teachers, parents and students
Ability to manage and maintain a safe learning environment for students
Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process including iPads, Touch boards and online instructional platforms,
Use STAR testing data to target individual learning targets for students
Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, spiritual, and emotional development of students
Know the needs of Grade School Children
Ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students
Willingness support the student’s to ensure that students’ social, emotional, nutritional and health needs are addressed
Capacity to hold ongoing instructional-specific conversations designed to focus conversations and efforts on improving student learning
Capacity to align curriculum, instruction, and assessments while responding to the individual needs of students
Development of organized routines, communicate clear expectations, and grow a positive school culture
Build a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork, and accountability
