ENGLISH TEACHER
High School English Teacher (Full-Time) Austin Catholic High School is seeking candidates for an English teacher in a full-time capacity. Our growing student population and expanding STEAM programs need faculty to grow with us. Courses taught may include AP English Literature & Composition, Contemporary English, Composition, Creative Writing, Survey of Literature & Composition, American Literature & Composition, and British Literature & Composition Candidates. Applicants should be qualified and capable of teaching a demanding English curriculum. The position requires a strong background and certification in English with the ability to teach in light of a Catholic, Christian worldview. A willingness to be an active member of our dynamic high school environment and contribute as a team player outside of the school day is a must.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
· Michigan teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain certification)
· Excellent communication and classroom management skills
· Passion for teaching and dedication to Catholic education
Responsibilities:
· Ability to maintain a safe and disciplined learning environment.
· Capacity to create lesson plans that support mastery of essential outcomes consistent with school goals; promote problem-solving and creativity, challenge students and demonstrate higher-order thinking.
· Capability to adapt delivery and materials to meet the needs of students with varying academic skill levels.
· Have an interest in supporting a school culture that focuses on each student’s academic, spiritual, social, and emotional growth in alignment with the school’s mission.
· Remain knowledgeable of educational standards and strategies to meet the academic, developmental, and social emotional needs of students
· Assess and modify instructional practice leading toward increased student achievement
· Utilize educational technology to support student’s instruction and learning
· Visibly demonstrate a willingness to expand knowledge and skills by participating in professional development opportunities in all areas.
· Participate in school activities, professional development, and faith-based events
