Head Coach - Senior Flag Football
Marian High School, a Catholic, all girls high school in Bloomfield Hills, is seeking a dedicated, motivated, and experienced head coach for our Senior Flag Football program. The sseason begins the last week of July and culminates with the final game in mid-September. This is a stipend position. The Head Coach reports directly to the Dean of Student Affairs, who for this role is also supported by the Senior Class Moderator. The coach will be responsible for all senior class members participating in the Senior Flag Football program. Coaches are required to adhere to Marian High School policies, the school's mission, and guidelines specific to the flag football program.
Responsibilities Include:
- Plan and implement team activities, practices, player placements, and game strategies appropriate for girls flag football
- Teaching student-athletes safe and fundamental flag football techniques throughout the season
- Emphasizing the importance of consistent practice attendance and active participation
- Ensuring clear and regular communication with athletes, parents, assistant coaches, moderators, and Marian Administration
- Collaborating with Faculty Liaison on the purchase of equipment and supplies
- Upholding and promoting Marian High School’s mission and values, ensuring that student-athletes adhere to school policies both on and off the field
- Monitoring the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and practice facilities
- Promoting individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship throughout the program
- Ensuring that practices and games are conducted in a safe and respectful environment
- Performing other related duties as required
Additional Information:
- The Head Coach position will be offered on a year-to-year, or at-will, contract. However, Marian hopes that a successful Head Coach will commit to a three-year tenure.
- Coach attendance at 100% of practices and game is essential, as it supports both the success of the team and the integrity of Marian High School’s athletic and co-curricular programs. Coaches are expected to model behavior consistent with the school’s mission and to foster an environment of respect, inclusion, and positive sportsmanship.
- Marian High School looks forward to a collaborative relationship with the Head Coach, through which current skills and practices can be grown and improved, and critical school traditions can be preserved under the expertise of the Head Coach and staff.
- The Head Coach is responsible for over-seeing the assistant coaching staff. The application for assistant coaches will be shared later this academic year. These positions will be filled in collaboration with the Head Coach. Assistant Coaching roles can and will rotate year-to-year.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Youth coaching or similar experience desired.
- Football (or flag football) coaching experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of football’s technical aspects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must complete the “Protecting God’s Children” program through the Archdiocese of Detroit, if not completed already
- Must pass a background check
- Valid CPR certification or willingness to obtain one
