Key Responsibilities
- Faith Integration: Uphold and model Catholic values, incorporating faith-based principles into lessons where appropriate.
- Art Education: Teach middle school art classes, introducing students to various artistic media, techniques, and art history.
- Makerspace Instruction: Facilitate hands-on STEM and design-based learning experiences, integrating creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration.
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging lesson plans that align with diocesan and state standards, incorporating both traditional and digital artistic tools.
- Classroom Management: Establish a supportive and structured learning environment that fosters student growth and creativity.
- Assessment & Feedback: Evaluate student progress through projects, portfolios, and presentations, providing constructive feedback.
- Collaboration: Work with fellow educators, administration, and parents to enhance the overall student learning experience.
- Extracurricular Involvement: Organize student art exhibits, Makerspace showcases, and potential after-school programs or clubs.
- Resource Management: Maintain art supplies, Makerspace equipment, and technology tools, ensuring a safe and organized classroom.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing learning and training to stay current with best practices in both art education and Makerspace instruction.
- IB Curriculum: Learn and develop under IB MYP including lesson plans, and rubrics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, STEM Education, or a related field (teaching certification preferred).
- Experience teaching art and/or Makerspace concepts at the middle school level.
- Proficiency with various artistic media, design software, and Makerspace tools (e.g., 3D printing, coding, robotics, woodworking, etc.).
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Passion for integrating creativity, problem-solving, and faith-based education.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
