Resource Teacher
Job Description:
St. Hugo of the Hills School is seeking a Resource Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. St. Hugo is a faith-based community dedicated to bringing Jesus into our students’ lives through exceptional academics and rich faith experiences. We are looking for an innovative, energetic, faith-filled individual who is passionate about engaging students and challenging them to meet their potential. The ideal candidate should provide students with strong and exceptional foundational skills through active and differentiated instruction.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A Resource Teacher must have a current Teaching Certificate in their related field of instruction through the Department of Education for Michigan; K-8 Special Education experience preferred.
The candidate must have an eagerness to continuously enrich their teaching expertise through professional development opportunities. The candidate must have or be willing to obtain Protecting God’s Children training.
The ideal candidate should be prepared to:
- Provide rigorous instruction in alignment with Catholic teachings
- Create an environment where Jesus is at the center of all learning and interactions, and the school vision is practiced. - “As Followers of Jesus It Must Be Different With Us”
- Work as a member of a supportive faculty
- Work with 4th through 8th grade students who have individualized education plans on organization, re-teaching, motivation, one-on-one instruction, etc.
- Collaborate with colleagues on a regular basis to support their learning and academic instruction for the Resource students
- Provide positive encouragement and motivation to the Resource students,
- Collaborate with School Counselor
- Attend BIT and IEP meetings with Bloomfield Hills Schools' Special Educational Team
- Strive for academic excellence through the use of robust teaching methods, student engagement and technology integration
- Provide innovative and differentiated instruction to best reach all levels of learners and learning styles
- Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process including Chromebooks, smart boards and online instructional platforms
- Establishes a consistent disciplinary approach which sets high standards for student behavior, promotes self-direction and confidence, and manages inappropriate behavior effectively
- Maintain a positive relationship with parents, students, and colleagues through regular communication
- Provide a caring and nurturing classroom environment where students feel safe to learn and grow academically, socially, and spiritually
- Completes additional administrative, operational, and professional responsibilities as needed
