St. Bernard High School is now accepting applications for the Religious Studies Teacher position for the 2024-2025 school year. REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Practicing Catholic with an active sacramental and faith life and in good standing with the Church
- Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
- Must demonstrate sensitivity towards students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with teenagers and their parents.
- Has - or is working toward (or willing to begin) religious certification
o Religion Certification is renewed every five years

JOB DUTIES
Implements the USCCB Curricular Framework curriculum as indicated for each coursePromotes a classroom environment that is conducive to individualized and / or small-group instruction and student learningDevelops lesson plans and instructional materials for Religious Studies and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instructionDesigns learning activities to demonstrate the relevance of the Faith to everyday life, with a particular focus on developing habits of mind that are transferable beyond Religious Studies classConducts ongoing standards-aligned formative assessments of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, and conducts individual and small group instruction as neededUses Assessment of Religious Knowledge (ARK) and / or other normed data on student learning to shift practice, if needed, to better serve the learning needs of our studentContinues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings or by conducting researchEncourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parentsCoordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committeesFunction as a role model by motivating students to maximize their potential while maintaining approachability.Attend school events to understand better student interests and personalities outside of the regular classroom, build strong mentoring relationships with studentsParticipates in all school retreatsPerform other duties and tasks as assignedREQUIREMENTS
