Job Summary: Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church is looking for a full-time Custodian to join our parish staff family. The Custodian is responsible for performing the routine cleaning of buildings and grounds of Our Lady of the Lake and assisting with the needs of the school.
Work Schedule: This is a twelve-month, full-time position. It may be expected that this position will work additional hours as needed, including evenings and weekends, to support all church needs.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and schedules
Possess working knowledge of the methods, techniques and materials used in custodial work
Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies
Physical Requirement/Environmental Conditions:
Ability to push/lift 75 pounds.
Ability to climb ladder, work from scaffold and lift up to 30 feet.
Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require.
Ability to work in extreme outdoor temperatures.
Essential Functions:
A. Maintain floors in a clean state by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping and waxing them
B. Clean, sanitize and supply restrooms
C. Clean and mop the Church and Adoration Chapel
D. Clean and service custodial equipment as needed
E. Clean windows and glass doors
F. On non-school days, perform general cleaning as assigned
G. Monitor lunch sessions in the cafeteria and empty trash cans
H. Deliver and properly position boxes/materials for Church and School (including milk to PK)
I. Set out and pick up chairs and tables as needed for scheduled events (at least once a week)
J. Report any safety, sanitary or fire hazards to the appropriate department
K. Lock and unlock doors, gates, and windows as requested
L. Assist maintenance staff with special event set-up and take down
M. Ensure grounds areas are clean and orderly
N. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Must pass background check and maintain compliance with Archdiocesan Safe Environment regulations.
