Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The school librarian manages the library's resources, collaborates with teachers to integrate library services into the curriculum, and creates a welcoming and engaging environment for students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade. Ensure the library operates efficiently, including cataloging and classifying materials using library management systems.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Develop and enforce library policies, including proper use of materials and technology.
- Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and safe library space.
- Organize library programs, such as author visits and book fairs.
- Encourage creative use of the library for individual and group projects.
- Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning through book talks, reading challenges, and literacy-focused events or activities.
