Essential Duties
The Director of Faith Formation/Youth Ministry Assistant is responsible for:
- To continually recruit, organize, train and support the OCIA and assist the Director of Youth Ministry when needed . This includes, but is not limited to catechists, parish mentors, (sponsors), peer companions, hospitality people and prayer/liturgy facilitators.
- To individually interview participants to the OCIA process during appropriate stages of their journey
- To facilitate sessions for OCIA each year. Breaks that coincide with the Academic year are to be observed as well.
- To supervise any interns assigned to assist with the OCIA process from Oblate School of Theology (OST).
- To work with the liturgy coordinator, musicians, deacons, parochial vicar and pastor to facilitate liturgies for the various stages of OCIA
- To represent the interests of the OCIA process as a member of the staff of St. Matthew.
- To regularly attend meetings of the deanery and Archdiocese as a representative of St. Matthew as appropriate.
- To lead Adult Bible Study groups and retreats for adult and youth.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

- Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Individual must be highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
- They must have strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve and reduce conflict.

- Strong organizational skills are a must
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, ability effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, and the general public
- Ability to work a flexible work week including Sundays and some evenings
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules or routines and maintain office protocol
- Preferred but not required: Bachelor’s degree in Theology and/or 3 years’ experience in the OCIA for adults
- Master’s Degree in Theology or related field is preferred but not required

- This position does not supervise any employees. However, the coordinator will be supervising volunteers on the OCIA.
