Summary
The Custodian fulfills the mission of the parish and school by maintaining a neat, clean, safe, and organized environment, proactively cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining clean school and office facilities throughout each school day.
Essential Functions / Job Duties :
Support and adhere to the religious standards, policies and procedures of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese.Work joyfully around children and school staff daily.Develop a schedule and clean throughout each school day to ensure the cleanliness of all areas of the school at all times.Clean classrooms, workrooms, kitchens, hallways and restrooms throughout the school day, including sweeping, dusting and mopping.Clean and disinfect restrooms throughout the school day, and replenish supplies.Set up, clean and put away lunch tables.Maintain cleanliness of exterior entrances and walkwaysRemove trash from all trash containers within the school daily, or as scheduled.Conduct emergency clean ups promptly upon notice.Conduct weekly, monthly and seasonal cleaning as directed.Periodically disinfect door handles, telephones, switch plates and trash receptacles.Assist with the set up and clean-up for meetings and special events.Adhere to applicable safety measures and precautions in cleaning practices.Maintain the security of issued keys. Secure buildings and turn off lights to conserve energy.Communicate effectively with management to address issues or problem areas.Communicate and collaborate effectively with staff / faculty to address cleaning needs / requests.Ensure cleaning supplies are adequately stocked.Protect the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the performance of duties.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements
Minimum Qualifications :
Minimum 2 years custodial work experience; in elementary school setting strongly preferred.Sufficient education and literacy needed to identify and read product labels and to communicate with staff about expected duties.Working knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies and equipment use.Mental / Physical Demands
