Pope John Paul II High School is a Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory school. Established in 2010, JPII is a self-supported Catholic High School in the Archdiocese of Seattle. It is governed by a volunteer board of directors whose members are appointed by the Archbishop of Seattle. JPII is accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA). JPII’s mission is founded on the charism of Pope Saint John Paul II: to educate young men and women who are intellectually strong, spiritually alive and committed to serving the needs of others.
POSITION: Pope John Paul II High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish teacher to join our faculty and help students develop language proficiency from introductory to advanced levels. A sucessful candidate must be committed to helping students achieve their full potential by attending to their academic, emotional, and spiritual needs. The hired teacher will also be responsible for instructing various ability levels at the same time. They will be responsible for delivering engaging, thoughtful, and culturally rich Spanish lessons from Spanish 1 to Spanish 5. This teacher will help students build foundational skills and fluency in Spanish, as well as an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures around the world.

Salary
$54,000 - $65,000
The salary offered is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, local market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees and certifications.

Required Qualifications
- Committed to proposing and supporting the Catholic faith and its mission.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Has experience teaching high school or higher education Spanish.
- Holds a bachelors in Spanish, education, or related field.
- Has experience in teaching various levels of Spanish in a classroom setting.
- Strong communication, classroom management, and collaboration skills.
- Committed to working with high school students in a faith-based school rooted in the Catholic tradition; eager to work in a Christian environment.
- Willing to support the vision of Pope Saint John Paul II for youth, including the three pillars of JPII High School: pursue the truth, act with virtue, and build community.
- Passionate for the subject content and competent in the skills required to engage and stimulate learning for students.
- Able to prepare lessons that differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Respects diversity in community and is willing to contribute to student life activities.
- Comfortable using technology (interactive boards, one-to-one tablet laptops, Schoology, PowerSchool, etc.) throughout instruction.
- Has had at least one year of teaching at the high school level.
- Can foster healthy teacher-student relationships that develop the whole child.
