GENERAL INTRODUCTION:
The archbishop, visible principle of unity in his archdiocese, is called to build up the particular Church unceasingly in the communion of all its members, and to ensure that their diverse gifts and ministries, in union with the universal Church, serve to build up all the faithful and to spread the Gospel. (Apostolorum Successores 8). He must take care that all the affairs which belong to the administration of the whole archdiocese are duly coordinated and are ordered to attain more suitably the good of the portion of the people of God entrusted to him. (Apostolorum Successores 177).
Each position employed in the Chancery helps to extend the ministry of the archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:
This role is dedicated to elevating communications work between the Chancery and parishes, schools and external audiences with a special focus on supporting archdiocesan communication campaigns and Development team promotions including the Annual Catholic Appeal, parish stewardship communications materials, and the promotion of several other Development initiatives such as the Crozier Society, the Legacy Society, the annual Archbishops Golf Tournament and others.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
- Creates strategic briefs for communication campaigns including message development, content creation, promotion plan, timeline and scheduling. Works with appropriate team members as needed.
- Acts as main point of contact between Communications team and Development team, partnering with key internal stakeholders.
- Manages all communications and promotions for the Development team, including writing, reviewing, editing and proofreading Development team materials such as letters, emails, newsletters, website copy, marketing materials and more.
- Coordinates videos and creates presentations for Development team campaigns when appropriate.
- Maintains a current level of knowledge and skills required to effectively serve as a strategic communicator.
- Manages other Chancery communication campaigns. This includes creating campaign briefs, writing messaging, establishing a promotion plan, working with Project Manager to determine schedule and providing Creative Studio input.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Primary:
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the archbishop.
- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
Education:
- Bachelors degree preferred
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience as a strategic communicator to an external audience.
- Experience with writing, editing and content production, including writing letters, newsletters, editing websites, and other communication materials.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to see projects through to the end with detailed thoroughness and excellent organizational skills.
- Experience working with digital marketing teams and campaigns.
- Demonstrated flexibility in running multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment.

- Written English fluency
- High degree of responsiveness with Communications team and internal stakeholders as well as a demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Ability to effectively run meetings, guide stakeholder discussions and present strategic plans
- Strong people skills, ability to relay information in diplomatic ways
- Experience working with graphic designers and critiquing design
- Familiarity with video production
- Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with current digital marketing best practices and concepts.
