What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastoral Assistant for Adult Faith Formation Level II - Salary position at ARCHDIOCESE OF SEATTLE PAYROLL SERVICES?
I. POSITION PURPOSE:
Develops, implements, and directs Adult Faith Formation and Adult Sacramental Preparation Programs for Parish Family 45 (Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, the Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater, and St. Joseph Parish).
II. ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, plans and directs Adult Faith Formation and Adult Sacramental Preparation programs including OCIA, Adult Confirmation and Eucharist.
- Leads or attends planning meetings related to faith formation events, objectives, strategies and goals.
- Prepares for and teaches classes in specified areas.
- Coordinates adult bible/book studies and opportunities for adult formation for the parish family.
- Recruits, trains and schedules catechists for Adult Faith Formation.
- Oversees marriage preparation. Supervises wedding coordinators and marriage preparation employees/teams in coordination with the liturgist.
- Works with advocates in preparation for adult sacraments.
- Maintains a current level of knowledge and skills required to function as a Pastoral Assistant for Adult Faith Formation by reading appropriate materials and attending workshops and conventions.
- Maintains inventory of educational supplies and re-orders as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A practicing Roman Catholic, with strong knowledge of the faith and prayer life.
- Enthusiasm for sharing the faith.
- Bachelor's degree (BA) required with preference given to applicants with under/post graduate studies in Theology.
- Certified Catechist or willing to obtain certification after hire.
- Working knowledge of the OCIA program would be preferred but not required.
- Up to date with the Archdioceses SAFE Environment Program
- Demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to recruit, motivate and direct volunteers.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated organization, presentation, teamwork, technical and time management skills, and ability to re-prioritize as needed.
- Ability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends, as well as at three locations (Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, the Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater, St. Joseph Parish)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and Teams.
- Ability to use audio/visual technology.
- Professional and appropriate attire.
