Job Summary

St. Clement of Rome Catholic School in Des Peres is looking for a cooperative, engaging, compassionate, and experienced educational leader to serve as our Assistant Principal in our PK-8 parish school. The Assistant Principal will serve as a member of the Administrative Team of St. Clement of Rome Catholic School under the direct supervision of the Principal.
Our school has about 380 students in PK-8, with typically 2 classrooms per grade. Our Preschool consists of a 3-year old class and two or more 4-year old classrooms.


Job Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Actively assists in implementing the mission of the school
  • Lives the mission of the Catholic church in daily life, as defined by the Christian Witness Statement and the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Attends open and working sessions of the School Board
  • Attends weekly faculty prayer with administration, teachers, and support staff
  • Attend Admin Team meetings
  • Attend faculty meetings and all other types of teacher/staff meetings as scheduled – help with agenda, set up, presentation of information, and all other details
  • Coordinate with the Principal (and/or CRE, School Counselor or Learning Consultant) planning and executing staff professional development
  • Share responsibility with the Principal for attending meetings and events that arise during the year
  • Attend school Masses
  • Work to promote Virtue Based Restorative Discipline practices through the education and support of teachers, staff, parents, and students
  • Assist the principal in hiring new faculty and staff members
  • Assist principal and faculty with the FACTS system: rostering classes, report card review and procedures
  • Collaborates with Tech team on various technological issues (relating to be not limited to: FACTS, Google applications, faculty/student textbook online applications and subscriptions, etc.)
  • Assist the principal in the faculty mentorship program; acting as an additional mentor to faculty including but not limited to professional development
  • Assist the principal in the teacher faculty formation by collaboration and use of the Archdiocesan Danielson program and the teacher evaluation process
  • Assist in providing effective and clear communication of behavioral expectations
  • Support principal, school counselor, and faculty in discipline issues
  • Support principal. Learning Consultant, and faculty in academic issues
  • Assists as needed with communication to parents, teachers, and students in behavioral or academic issues
  • Coordinate with admin or faculty for student consequences
  • Attend CareTeam meetings
  • Collaborate on the creation of class lists
  • Assists in overseeing the administering and interpreting the NWEA Map Growth Assessment
  • Creates school schedules including but not limited to: daily specials, recess/lunch, daily/monthly teacher duties, electives classes, changes in schedules for special events
  • Coordinates learning opportunities for students who excel in areas such as math; working with teachers and special staff designated to provide enrichment
  • Contributes and collaborates to build and maintain a positive school climate among staff, students, and parents
  • Assists in coordinating safety procedures, materials, practices with admin and safety committee members
  • Oversees and coordinates assignments, schedules, and the monitoring of school arrival procedure, lunch/recess volunteers, dismissal procedure, and participates as needed
  • Assists the principal in tracking faculty absences and acquiring substitute teachers to fill teaching needs

Job Requirements

Additional Information

  • This is an 11-month position, July 15th - June 15th
  • The position is exempt
  • The candidate must be Faith-filled practicing Catholic
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching
  • School leadership experience required
  • Preferred - Administration/Supervision experience, Administration certification
