Job Summary
St. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church, a vibrant suburban parish of 2,000 households located in St. Peters, MO, is seeking a full-time Director of Liturgical Music. This position includes both evening and weekend hours. The Director of Liturgical Music will be responsible for providing musical leadership during liturgical celebrations and ensuring a high standard of liturgical music in the parish community.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and accompany liturgical music during Masses, sacramental celebrations, and other liturgical events.
- Work with cantors, choirs, students, and other musicians of varying ages and skill levels to foster collaboration and excellence in music ministry.
- Select and organize music for liturgies, incorporating both traditional and contemporary liturgical music.
- Provide musical training and direction to cantors, choirs, and instrumentalists, ensuring the effective preparation of music for liturgies.
- Utilize technology and multimedia tools to enhance the musical experience and support liturgical events.
- Collaborate with other parish staff, particularly with clergy, to ensure that music complements the spiritual goals of the parish.
- Ensure proper maintenance and care of musical instruments, including the Viscount Hybrid organ and Kawai Artist Grand Piano.
- Assist with the recruitment and development of musicians within the parish community.
- Manage scheduling for all music ministry personnel, including cantors and choir members.
