Housekeeper/Cook - 4th floor Archbishop's Residence

The mission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In the faithful pursuit of this mission, the Cardinal’s Residence is seeking a Housekeeper/Cook for the 4th floor.

The Housekeeper is responsible for supporting the bishops and priests of the 4th floor residences by maintaining a clean, sanitary, comfortable, tidy environment both floors and prepare, cook, and serving meals.

This position pays $27.00 per hour and reports to the Priest Secretary to the Archbishop

Duties and Responsibilities

Housekeeping Duties & Responsibilities – 4th floor only

• Sweep, scrub, mop, and polish floors
• Vacuum clean carpets, rugs, and draperies
• Dust and polish furniture and fittings
• Empty and clean trash containers
• Dispose of trash in a sanitary manner
• Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs, and showers
• Make up beds and change linens as required
• Tidy up rooms for rectory
• Sort, wash, load, and unload laundry for both the residents, any assigned priests, and the Sacristy
• Iron and press clothing and linens
• Sort, fold and put away clean laundry
• Operate mechanized cleaning equipment
• Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition
• Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements
• Wash dishes and clean kitchen according to agreed hygiene standards
• Clean appliances

Cooking Duties & Responsibilities -4th floor only

• Prepare a weekly menu
• Shop for groceries, kitchen needs
• Prepare meals

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques, and methods
• Knowledge of cleaning sensitive materials

Education and Experience

• A practicing Catholic who supports the teachings of the Catholic Church is preferred.
• Working knowledge of operating cleaning equipment
• Two or more years of experience in housekeeping and cooking preferred.
