Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa (the position could also be based out of Decatur, IL)
Education:
- Associates degree
- Diploma from recognized technical school in Microstation, AutoCAD, or equivalent work experience
- The position could be filled as a level 1 or 2 within the organization.
- CAD Operator 1 ideally has 1 to 2 years’ experience in AutoCAD or Microstation.
- CAD Operator 2 ideally has 3 to 5 years’ experience in AutoCAD or Microstation.
- Projects are assigned by the CAD Department Manager. Project tasks are carried out under the direction of the Project Manager, Design Professional in Responsible Charge (DPIRC), and Project Engineer.
- CAD Department Manager, and Lead CAD personnel will provide mentorship and direction.
- Develop CAD deliverables per requirements and specifications, and ensure that they are complete, and accurate. The deliverables include but are not limited to: 2D drawings, 3D models, PID & PFD’s.
- Develop skills to read and interpret design drawings. Review shop drawings when requested.
- Assist with field surveying, information gathering and laser scanning.
- Assist with development of department CAD standards and CAD templates.
- Responsible for accurate and timely project file management (CAD files, vendor files, emails, etc.) and dissemination of project information.
- Working knowledge in “Autocad” CAD or equivalent CAD applications.
- Proficient in 2D drafting and 3D modeling techniques.
- Basic understanding of good engineering, design, and architectural practices.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and processes.
- Provide meaningful feedback to project teams, and CAD Manager to help the CAD team improve performance.
- Not satisfied with status quo. Continually strives to find new and better solutions to CAD drafting and modeling challenges.
- Previous internship, apprenticeship or work experience in a related field.
