Electrical Systems Engineer - ADM site in Iowa or Illinois
This is a permanent, full-time, exempt-level position. This is not a remote-based opportunity, and the individual must report into an ADM location in Iowa or Illinois.
ADM is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the development and execution of various electrical systems reliability programs. The successful candidate will be part of the Electrical Systems group, and will be tasked within the North American geographic region, with their primary focus being within Iowa and sections of Illinois.
This Engineer will apply technical knowledge and expertise in support of electrical system projects, including repair, modernization, safety, operational improvement, and capital planning. The successful candidate will have strong understanding of electrical system standards including but not limited to ANSI/ IEEE and NETA testing standards.
The successful candidate will also have extensive experience with and comprehensive understanding of electrical distribution equipment including but not limited to power transformers, switchgears, capacitor banks, switchboard, motor control centers, and lighting.

Primary Responsibilities
Improving Electrical Asset Reliability:
- Consult with the appropriate standards and SMEs to develop and review maintenance plans for all distribution system apparatus that supports the plant operations within areas of responsibility
- Ensure that existing maintenance plans are aligned with manufacturer’s recommendations and the relevant industry standards
- Develop asset registers for electrical distribution equipment with the appropriate hierarchy and attributes to facilitate uploading to the computerized maintenance management system
- Develop outage requirements and support the site coordination of maintenance activities for high/ medium voltage assets that results in minimal outage impact
- Perform audits of critical electrical systems within the computerized maintenance management system to ensure that the appropriate maintenance is completed within the industry recommended timing
- Act as the technical lead in reviewing electrical plant projects during the design, spec, procure and implementation phases
- Ensure that project process and stages are aligned with the requirements of FEL
- Ensure that the electrical assets associated with capital projects are appropriately catalogued, the hierarchy developed and job plans created that are aligned with manufacturer’s recommendations/ industry standards
- Work with the CMMS team to ensure that developed hierarchy and job plans are uploaded into the CMMS
- Ensure that during infrastructure handover (from project to operations); the appropriate commissioning documents, O&M manuals and procedures and confirmation of CMMS upload are transferred to the operations team as part of the project closure and transfer process
- Perform risk analysis of existing infrastructure, and where risks are identified, develop and present the appropriate mitigating measures
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering
- 5 years’ experience with power systems design, operation and maintenance working in a regulated utility, industrial or commercial environment
- Exceptional knowledge and experience working with electrical system drawings and layout
- Demonstrated experience using critical thinking skills required to troubleshoot complex high voltage/ medium voltage distribution system
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of industry standards that governs the selection, performance and maintenance of high voltage/ medium voltage distribution assets
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of safety procedures required when entering electrical substations or other infrastructure that housed high voltage and medium voltage electrical apparatus
- Working knowledge of down stream electrical elements including but not limited to MMCs, motors, switch gears, switch boards and electrical panels
- Working knowledge of electrical system protection
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft suite of products(Excel, Word and Power Point)
- Ability to travel to manufacturing facilities as needed (approximately 30%)
- License Professional Engineer (P.E. or P.Eng)
- Project Management Professional
