Key Responsibilities:
- Policy and Procedure Monitoring: Conduct regular reviews and prepare assessments of the organization’s employee relations practices (i.e. labor law posting requirements), policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- ADAAA Compliance: Manage the reasonable accommodation interactive process in collaboration with the legal and internal and external leave administration teams to ensure the uniform and equitable treatment of employees with disabilities under the American Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA).
- Investigation Management: Provides investigation support as needed for employee complaints, and allegations of misconduct in a timely and impartial manner, ensuring adherence to internal investigation protocols and legal requirements.
- Data Analysis: Analyze employee relations data, including complaints, grievances, and disciplinary actions to identify trends, patterns, and potential compliance risks.
- Training and Education: Support the content development and deliverance of employee relations training programs and materials for HR teams, employees and managers on topics such as accommodations process, harassment prevention, diversity and inclusion, and workplace conduct to promote awareness of legal obligations and best practices.
- Management and Regulatory Reporting: Work closely with data & analytics team and external partners to prepare and submit compliance reports to management and regulatory authorities (i.e. EEO-1, AAP, VETS, etc.) summarizing employee relations activities, including investigations, outcomes, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Colleague Support: Provide guidance and assistance to HR professionals, managers, and employees on compliance-related matters, including interpretation of policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, internal audit, and operations, to address compliance-related issues and initiatives and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Juris Doctorate, Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, AWI) is a plus.
- 5 years’ experience in employee relations, HR Compliance, or related areas, preferably within heavy manufacturing and/or large organization with significant hourly workforce.
- Strong understanding of U.S. employment policies/procedures and related federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and EEOC guidelines.
- Experience in tracking compliance requirements on an ongoing basis, including changes in legislation and responding to any employment law related compliance notices.
- Draft and revise company policies or procedures and monitor same as necessary
- Vendor management and experience leading the reasonable accommodation interactive process under the American with Disabilities Act.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and compliance risks.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of articulating complex and sensitive information to different audiences
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and handling sensitive employee relations matters with discretion, impartiality, and confidentiality.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences and varying levels of leadership.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using HRIS systems, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all employee relations activities.
- HR or Workplace Investigation certification helpful.
