The successful candidate will have experience managing a small laboratory preferably with experience with analyses common in the animal nutrition industry. Knowledge and experience in running chemical and/or biochemical assays is desired. In this role the candidate will work cross-functionally with other scientists, farm operations personnel, and scientific leaders to support multiple projects across species. Execute sample analyses. The manager will also be responsible for managing all laboratory safety protocols and maintaining standard operating procedures.

Your Responsibilities
- Lead laboratory analyses of samples from animal nutrition studies as well as feed additives and ingredients
- Perform biological sample processing and analyses in support of new product development
- Lead and manage all laboratory safety procedures and protocols
- Maintain laboratory standard operating procedures for all analyses
- Coordinate data collection and reporting from internal research investigations and outside laboratories
- Deliver data and technical reports to project leaders
- Monitor scientific literature for new techniques and technical approaches
- B.S. in relevant area (e.g. animal nutrition, chemistry, biology, microbiology)
- Working knowledge of standard lab equipment (centrifuges, analytical scales, light microscopy)
- Experience with maintaining laboratory safety procedures and protocols with a focus on continuous improvement
- Familiarity with analytical equipment such as GC, HPLC, and NIR
- Demonstrated ability to execute and interpret laboratory experiments
- Willingness to work with biological materials and samples
- Working knowledge of livestock food ingredients and/or food chemistry
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication
- Ability to communicate to diverse audiences including technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong affinity for lab work in industrial environments; results-oriented mind set
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team player and able to work in global, multidisciplinary teams
