Position Summary:
Within the Nutrition business segment, the Specialty Ingredients business has a mission to be a leader and trusted partner in sustainably delivering high quality, nutrition solutions to a growing world. With its processing plants located throughout the world, the Unit’s ingredient product lines are produced across the world and utilizes various intermediates to produce its product lines.
The global commercial risk and affordable nutrition manager offers a unique experience – managing raw material and currency risk while accelerating a new business - Affordable Nutrition.
With risk management, the manager is responsible for driving excellence in raw material purchasing as well as managing overall raw material exposure. The position will develop and execute purchasing strategies and will interact with global colleagues, across multiple functions and business units (in Carbohydrate Solutions and Agricultural Services & Oilseeds). This critical role will reduce risk while purchasing soy protein white flake, corn (for polyols) and oil (for lecithin) internally. Additional support may be needed for third-party purchases. Furthermore, the position will be responsible for currency risk management for North America Specialty Ingredients.
With Affordable Nutrition, the position will support the development and execution of the Unit’s emerging platform. The business includes full packaged solutions as well as singular ingredients to launch into the developing global market of affordable food solutions. The position will engage and drive opportunities to develop and implement the go-to-market strategy with focus on NA and EMEA regions. Duties include engagement with internal colleagues as well as customer engagement as well as packaged concept creation.
The position reports directly to the VP, Affordable Nutrition & LATAM Proteins.

Responsibilities:
Global Risk Management
- Coordinate with regional business leads to develop strategies for reducing risk in raw material sourcing; manage overall raw material positions for alternative proteins, lecithin and sorbitol.
- Establish and grow third party relationships to purchase raw materials for further processing within the Foods business of the Nutrition business unit. Raw materials include, but not limited to corn, legumes, soy protein white flake, soy/canola/sunflower oil and lecithin.
- Assist with global alternative protein risk strategy while directing regional raw material purchasing.
- Perform competitive and market intelligence analysis across several industries
- Manage and lead efforts to create new tools to monitor, track and report on positions within Nutrition.
- Manage P&L and drive business performance through pricing and product mix optimization; connect with global commercial colleagues to accelerate opportunities.
- Engage internal and external parties to drive desired outcomes. Including customer engagement and sales support.
- Assist with global strategy while directing regional go-to-market strategy and product-line strategies. Includes connection with R&D, CD&D and marketing for new product development.
- Partner with supply chain and operations colleagues to drive order execution.
- Establish goals and objectives and guide the business during stable or changing market conditions and collaborate in order to reach those goals.
- Determine, develop and drive growth projects including MA and greenfield projects.
- BA/BS in accounting, business, or finance or related field is required with a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- Commodity trading and commodity risk management experience necessary with an understanding of specialty raw material markets,
- A proven ability to cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels inside and outside of the organization.
- Maturity, professional demeanor and personal discretion to interact with business leaders.
- Independent decision making and problem solving skills with the ability to develop solutions in a logical and systematic way.
- Excellent communication skills emphasizing listening, writing, and speaking succinctly, clearly and effectively.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail and follow-up.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and flexibility to adjust.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis in excel and power point is required
