This is a full time, exempt position
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for achieving set tactical direction for the
entire department within the Dry Grind Ethanol facility and a specific shift. This employee will work with and report to the Dry Grind Superintendent. The duties may vary day by day. Duties include setting daily direction for operations through ensuring execution of standard work, fostering an environment that promotes a positive safety culture, aligning on priorities for operations, ensuring trainees are meeting goals, troubleshooting plant upsets, participate in plant initiative activities, and other tasks as required. The Shift Supervisor is required to drive out losses within the department to ensure the plant is able to maximize efficiencies on a given shift.

Job Function:
- Directs the operation of the plant facility within established qualify, housekeeping, safety, and environmental guidelines set by the organization
- Coordinates daily operations performed by hourly production employees to ensure that work is being performed safely and efficiently
- Adjusts work assignments for hourly production employees that effectively utilized the team’s experience, training, and abilities.
- Ensures the safety of all personnel through compliance with OSHA regulations
- Maintains a positive safety culture, which includes coaching/mentoring on how safety is a priority for the plant and every employee
- Provides recommendations for improvements to the department and/or programs
- Recognizes risks and provides recommendations for improvements
- Communicates effectively within the department to hourly employees, contractors, maintenance, vendors, and leaders
- Keep plant management informed of all matters impact team morale and/or the safety of employees
- Escalate plant concerns to appropriate department leaders (Operations Supervisor, SME’s, Maintenance Superintendent, and/or Department Superintendent) as needs arise.
- Motivates hourly team members by leading by example and holding themselves to a high standard of integrity
- Identifies training needs of the shift hourly staff and escalates concerns to ensure team is getting the resources and help needed
- Works closely with each department to understand needs and challenges for the shift
- Provide regular coaching and performance reviews for hourly employees
- Lead operations meetings & safety meetings/trainings
- Analyze safety, environmental, quality incidents as they occur entering initial reports and investigation into Sphera software
- Maintain a culture on shift that embraces the ADM Code of Conduct and encourages positive reinforcement when team is achieving good results and safe performance
- Issue discipline (attendance and/or job performance) as warranted as dictated through Human Resources and Department Superintendent
- Conduct audits of the plant to ensure compliance (GMP, Safety, Health, Environmental, etc)
- Assists with operational activities on D3 and in field
- Enter Work Orders as issues arise that need attention with appropriate prioritization (Code 1, 4, 7, 9)
- Must be a highly motivated individual and have the ability to motivate others for task completion.
- Must be able to work well with others in a team environment, as well as the ability to make decisions to guide the team, sometimes with minimal information
- Set up teams for success by issuing hot work and confined space permits
- Assists in equipment periodic inspections.
- Ability to align to department’s priorities and self-manage workload accordingly

- Performs other duties as assigned
